How do I start?

Step 1: Identify Opportunities

  • Use The Embassy Project to explore age-appropriate internships:

    • 15–18 years: Youth parliaments, Model UN teams, NGO youth programs, online research projects, essay competitions

    • 18+ years: UN internships, think tanks, embassies, professional NGOs, media and journalism roles

  • Check official websites for application deadlines and eligibility requirements.

Step 2: Prepare Your Application Materials

  • Resume / CV: Highlight relevant experiences, leadership roles, languages, awards, and skills. Keep it clear and concise.

  • Cover / Internship Letter: Use our template; personalize it for each organization, showing your interest and what you can contribute.

  • Optional Supporting Documents: Academic transcripts, recommendation letters, writing samples, or portfolios (if relevant).

Step 3: Tailor Your Application

  • Research the organization’s mission, projects, and values.

  • Clearly explain why you’re interested in them and how your skills or experience align.

  • Highlight any relevant achievements, like Model UN awards, debate leadership, or essay competition placements.

Step 4: Submit Your Application (usually via email)

  • Follow the instructions carefully (online form, email, or portal).

  • Ensure all documents are named clearly and attached in the correct format.

  • Double-check for grammar, spelling, and accuracy before sending.

Step 5: Follow Up Professionally

  • Wait 1–2 weeks after submission.

  • Send a polite, brief follow-up email expressing continued interest if you do not receive a reply.

  • Thank them for considering your application as it shows initiative and professionalism.
